Is a faster DDR5 speed grade worth paying for right now?

What repriced in this shortage is capacity, not speed: the per-gigabyte cost is what multiplied, while the premium for a higher speed grade over a mainstream one is roughly what it always was. On a fixed budget, dropping one capacity tier saves far more than dropping a speed grade, so buy the mainstream speed at the capacity you actually need.
